Eyelid Surgery

Droopy eyelids can make you look older and can sometimes impair vision. The procedure, blepharoplasty, surgically corrects this problem and can also be used to remove puffiness and "bags" from under the eyes. Blepharoplasty removes the excess fat, muscle and skin from the upper lids and the bags from the lower lids giving a younger, firmer, more refreshed appearance to the eye area. It cannot, however, remove the dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes that often occur with age. These are best managed with resurfacing and procedures such as a chemical peel and/or laser skin resurfacing.

BeforeBeforeAfterBefore

In upper eyelid surgery, the surgeon will make the incision within the naturally occurring folds of the eyelid in order to keep the surgical scars as invisible as possible after surgery. In lower eyelid surgery, the incision is made inside the lid and occasionally in the smile lines of the lower lid in order to conceal any scaring. Once the excess fat is removed, the resurfacing procedure can then be used to reduce the fine lines.
