Dr. Chastant is a proud native of Lafayette, Louisiana. He shares his love of medicine with his father, Dr. Harold Chastant and his two sons, Dr. Bradley Chastant, II and Dr. Ryan Chastant. His mother, the late Evelyn Chastant was a nurse and his daughter, Danielle Keaty, is an RN and teaching at UL. His son, Randall Chastant was a Medic and a Blackhawk Medivac Pilot in the Army. Dr. Chastant began his career in Medicine as a Certified Respiratory Therapist and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UL of Lafayette.

After receiving his doctorate from LSU Health Science Center of New Orleans he completed a 5-year residency program consisting of General Surgery and Otolaryngology from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Chastant is board certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and board certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. Dr. Chastant is also a Professor in the ENT Department of LSU Medical School.

Dr. Chastant was the founder of Acadian Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center in 1988. He sought to provide an all-in-one solution for his patients resulting in the specialized departments within Acadiana ENT of Acadian Hearing, Acadian Skin Care, Acadian Allergy and Acadian Facial Plastic Surgery. He is the founder and director of the only certified allergy lab in the State of Louisiana.

As a specialist in both cosmetic and medical procedures, Dr. Chastant was the first surgeon in the Lafayette area to perform endoscopic sinus surgery as well as the first surgeon to perform an open rhinoplasty. He has pioneered research of frontal sinus stents. His first medicated stent procedure was performed in 2012 at Lafayette General Surgical Hospital earning recognition as the first procedure in the history of Louisiana Medicine to be an innovative success. These medicated stents provide relief to patients who suffer from chronic sinusitis and allergies.

Dr. Chastant also works extensively with head and neck cancer. His training as both an otolaryngologist and facial plastic surgeon has given him a unique perspective on how to achieve a patient’s cosmetic goal while preserving optimal function. His desired outcome whenever performing surgery is to produce the best possible aesthetic result while minimizing visible post-operative scarring. He also offers nonsurgical cosmetic treatments for patients looking for quick, noninvasive enhancements to combat early signs of aging and other concerns.

Dr. Chastant credits much of his passion and learning to the late Dr. Jack Anderson, founder of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Chastant spent an extensive amount of his last year of residency with this remarkable surgeon.

While enriching the lives of our future, Dr. Chastant has continued to be a leader in medicine by offering internships and residencies to students in various concentrations. He is committed to teaching and training new physicians and is honored to serve as Professor in the ENT Department at LSU Health Sciences Center. He has been the founder and director for the Otolaryngology Residency Program at UHC Lafayette since it was opened in 1990 at the request of his mentor, Dr. Merv Trail. He has had the privilege of participating in the education of most of the LSU ENT physicians currently practicing in the state of Louisiana.

In his private practice, Dr. Chastant partners with his esteemed colleagues, Dr. Jeffery Joseph and Dr. Ryan Chastant, to stay on the cutting edge of medicine. Whether the patient is suffering from sinus issues, allergies, hearing conditions or would like to enhance their physical appearance, the staff of Acadian ENT Facial Plastic Surgery Center is always ready to help.
