Dr. Charles “Lane” Anzalone Jr.

Otologic surgeon Charles “Lane” Anzalone Jr., M.D., was born and raised in Crowley, Louisiana. Upon graduating first in his class from Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, he received his medical doctorate from the University of Texas in 2015. During his tenure at the University of Texas, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society, a prestigious distinction amongst the top percentile of students. After graduation, Dr. Anzalone was only one of four residents nationwide to be accepted into the surgical residency at Mayo Clinic’s Otorhinolaryngology ENT unit.

During his time at Mayo Clinic, he authored several peer-reviewed articles in otology/neurotology that gained him recognition within the international medical community, was voted top resident teacher by his peers, and was awarded a directed medical grant by the United States Department of Defense for his work in otology with veterans. He was also presented with the Mayo Clinic Karis Award, a high honor among a small number of medical professionals for exemplifying the Franciscan values of integrity, compassion, and stewardship in care for every patient.

Dr. Anzalone completed his fellowship training in Otology/Neurotology with world-renowned ear specialists John L. Dornhoffer, M.D., at the University of Arkansas. His area of expertise is in otology as a comprehensive ear specialist, specializing in chronic ear infections, hearing loss, and cochlear implantation. With a unique skill set ranging from simple ear tubes to more advanced surgical implantation, Dr. Anzalone is one of only a few fellowship-trained ear surgeons specializing in otology and neurotology in Louisiana. He dedicates his time treating both pediatric and adult patients suffering from hearing-related ailments, welcoming patients at both our Lafayette and Crowley locations.

After several years of traveling across the country, from studying medicine in Houston to his fellowship training at the University of Arkansas, Dr. Anzalone has finally come home to Acadiana! He and his wife, Mary Gayle have returned to the Lafayette area with their three children. When he isn’t busy helping patients, he enjoys watching LSU football, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.

We welcome Dr. Anzalone to the AcadianENT family, and look forward to providing even more comprehensive service to our patients than ever before!
