What is chronic rhinitis?
Chronic conditions are persistent, usually lasting three months or longer, and may get worse over time. Rhinitis is the inflammation of the mucosal lining of the nose and is either allergic or nonallergic. Both types of rhinitis have different causes, but they can be considered chronic if symptoms persist. Symptoms include runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy eyes and throat, postnasal drip, sneezing, and coughing. For patients with chronic rhinitis, these symptoms occur all year long despite fluctuations in external irritants.
Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is caused by the body’s immune response to allergens like pet dander, mold, pollen, and dust. Non-allergic rhinitis can be triggered by environmental irritants like smoke, smog, and certain perfumes or fragrances.
Your physician will apply a local anesthetic to the inside of your nose, which may take several minutes to take full effect. Once completely numbed, the RhinAer® wand is inserted into the nostril. Low-temperature radiofrequency energy is emitted from the tip of the wand, disrupting the signals within the mucosal lining that trigger symptoms. The RhinAer® system targets and calms overactive nerve endings, reducing the production of unnecessary mucous and shrinking inflamed tissue. The procedure is usually performed in about 60 minutes, and patients may return to their regular activities almost immediately.
The RinAer® procedure is a painless, non-invasive treatment option for patients with chronic rhinitis. It is a quick and easy procedure that can significantly reduce or eliminate symptoms without the need for surgery. It takes less than an hour to complete treatment, and patients may return to their normal activities the very same day. RhinAer® is FDA-approved and clinically proven to improve symptoms associated with chronic rhinitis, including constant stuffy nose, runny nose, postnasal drip, and more. Most patients experience little to no discomfort during the treatment.
In a clinical study, 96% of RhinAer® patients reported improved or eliminated symptoms through one year after treatment, though individual results may vary. Some patients may experience light bleeding, redness, swelling, and temporary sensitivity to the area after the procedure. Expect to see the full effects within four weeks of your procedure, with long-lasting results!
Rhinitis affects millions of Americans every day, including children with sensitivities to environmental irritants. For chronic patients, it may seem like there’s no chance of relief as they battle symptoms year-round. Fortunately, RhinAer® can be a solution to your sinus woes.
